FIVN Player

FIVN Player for Series 60 (3rd Edition) 2.71

Free audio player handling a range of formats

It's great to be able to listen to music on your phone, and many people are now ditching their MP3 player in favour of their mobile. It can be difficult to settle upon a program to play your tunes though, with such a wide choice around. There's a lot of bad audio players out there, but thankfully FILVN isn't one of them. It's great to be able to listen to music on your phone, and many people are now ditching their MP3 player in favour of their mobile. It can be difficult to settle upon a program to play your tunes though, with such a wide choice around. There's a lot of bad audio players out there, but thankfully FILVN isn't one of them.

The program boasts all the finesse of some of the top MP3 players on the market, with a gleaming interface that's easy to navigate, lots of cool playback features, plus support for a wide range of different audio formats.

Of course, you get all the basic playback controls you'd expect (play, pause, stop, volume control, etc.) but the beauty of this app is that it maps them to the keys on your phone for your comfort. There are a few different playback modes, such as Random and Repeat that add to the overall listening experience, and searching your phone for music is a doddle with FIVN, as it quickly lits all the music directories on your device.

Another major boon of the software is its support for audio formats. The player can handle all of the major ones, including MP3, MP4, WAV and AMR. You can even play Ogg Vorbis files, though you'll have to download a separate plug-in to do so.

It lacks any visualisations, which is something I always like to see in an audio player. That said, it does include a rather cool 'Background' mode, where just the track name and artist of the song playing is displayed subtly on your phone's screen.

If you want a simple, no-nonsense audio player with support for a wide range of file formats, then FIVN ticks all the right boxes.

Changes

  • Fixed random playback mode

FIVN Player supports the following formats

AAC, AMR, MIDI, MP3, MP4, WAV. Ogg Vorbis through a plug-in

FIVN Player is created for easy and simple usage. It has a lot of functions, settings and it supports many sound formats. FIVN Player uses phone plug-ins to play sound files. Formats that the player tries to check if they can be played are: aac, amr, mp3, mp4, ogg and wav. FIVN Player has two user interfaces: play list and popup list. Popup list is the legacy user interface from the previous version that can show background pictures.

Features and options in FIVN player include:

  • Sound priority to set the sound device priority
  • GUI mode to set the user interface mode
  • Playback mode to set the playback mode. Normal means to play sounds from the top to the bottom. Random means to play every sound once randomly. Repeat means to play sounds repeatedly
  • Repeat to set how many times the sound is repeated. It is in effect only when Repeat is selected in the Playback mode
  • Search folders to set folders to be searched. If All is selected, other selections will be deselected. The Sound packages selection is reserved for future use
